Triumph Sailing offers community and the opportunity to face new challenges as a team.

TriSail - Serving Veterans and First Responders Through Sailing

A Continuing Challenge

Services for veterans and first responders have improved in recent years, and yet members of our hero community continue to struggle. Of the U.S. veterans that committed suicide in 2018 did not receive treatment from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs in the year the died or the year prior.

Nature/Adventure Therapy

Peer-led challenging activity in a natural setting can can address the needs of veterans and first responders in a manner that traditional treatments do not. Experiencing camaraderie and engaging in a challenging task while working as a team can recreate the sense of purpose and esprit de corps experienced while serving.

How it Works

TriSail brings veterans and first responders together to learn to sail and to face the challenges of the sea. Through day sailing events, sailing clinics, overnight trips, and offshore passages we build community and develop resilience through commerdaerie, team work, and the challenges of the sea.

Who May Participate?

TriSail programs are available to those who served honorably in the armed forces; to active duty service members; to civilian first responders; and to their families. A medical diagnosis is not required, just the desire to be part of a community and to accept a new challenge.

Who is TriSail?

Triumph Sailing was founded by a U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran who found his own recovery on the sea. We operate on Galveston Bay and in the Gulf of Mexico with the help of dedicated volunteers and the support of the local community.
